Why do I get strange errors when using IRIX make?

Sorry, but the SGI make is broken and doesn't support VPATH completely. There might also be some problems with dependency tracking. If you need to use VPATH on SGI you will have to compile and use GNU make instead. Set MAKE=gmake before running configure, and then issue gmake instead of make.
