In the first week of January the GROMACS crew went to visit the D.E. Shaw research group in Manhattan to discuss MD algorithms. The christmas atmosphere was still present in New York as is obvious... From the GROMACS team, Erik Lindahl, Berk Hess, David van der Spoel, Filipe Maia and Marvin Seibert participated, whereas about 15 scientists from D.E. Shaw, including David Shaw, John Klepeis and Ron Dror, took part in the discussions. Topics included domain decomposition algorithms, file formats and applications. We thank the D.E. Shaw group for the invitation and stimulating discussions.
